It’s taken a while to write this article as the landscape and impact of Covid 19 is constantly changing.
Today I bite the bullet and write what we know so far…..
I’m the first to admit that my initial response to Covid 19 when it was reported all those months ago was a bit blasé. The panic that was being reported seemed like an overreaction for what I thought was a minor event. What I learnt very quickly was that the effect of this pandemic is far more widespread than I (and many others) envisaged…..
In March 2020 the events industry came to a complete holt when restrictions on gatherings were implemented in order to employ social distancing measures and slow the transmission of this infectious disease. Fear and anxiety has been running high as these unprecedented times have been taking shape. Our favourite bars, restaurants and iconic venues have been closed and thousands of staff have been stood down globally.
We don’t know what’s to come.
We don’t know how long this will last.
We DO know that this is affecting EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.
We have braced ourselves to ride out the storm and are adapting to the situation as it continues to evolve. We continue to support our industry colleagues and partners through this crisis.
The desire to socialise, strategize and engage in person is human nature and the question is not IF, but WHEN these challenging times will pass. Whether its 3 months or 6 months, we KNOW that restrictions WILL be lifted and conferences / events will begin to run again.
We are expecting a rebound effect to take place in late Spring / Summer 2020 following the fallout in March 2020. We are in close contact with venues and industry partners to monitor availability and be ready for the uplift.
The future landscape of the events industry is uncertain, but what we know to be true is that the events / hospitality industry is extremely collaborative and resilient. We accept this challenge and embrace the unknown and aim to come out stronger and better than ever!
